The Weather

Today I am thankful for the pretty weather we have been having.  However, it is supposed to change today.  Hopefully, it won't be too bad.

Grandchildren

Today I am thankful for grandchildren.  They make me smile.  They cuddle and giggle and I can give them back!  It is a win win situation!

I haven't been here for a long time, somehow this blog just slipped through my mind and that is a shame because it is a good thing to be humble and remember all the things that are truly blessings in our day, big and small, monumental and insignificant. 

Five years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, went through surgery and treatment and here I am, on the other side feeling good and doing well.  I remember a lot of things about that time but what I remember most is the overwhelming gratitude I felt.  There are really no words to express it, I don't know how but it is a feeling of being so grateful for everything -- doctors, medicine, friends, church, clergy, the birds in the sky, the sun, the moon --- just absolutely everything.  It truly brought me to my knees and bowed my head and the words to express my gratitude weren't something I could verbalize but they were in my heart and now, while the cancer is gone and I am back to my old self the one thing that remains is that feeling of gratitude. 

The reason that I started this blog long ago was to try to express that gratitude.  As usual, life got in the way and the blog just sort of was forgotten.  However, today I was reminded by a good friend that keeping a journal of blessings and things to be grateful for is a good thing so I decided to revisit this site.  I will keep a regular,  handwritten journal as well but maybe, if anybody reads this, it could be an inspiration to them as well so I will do my best to keep this blog going.  How hard could it be?  There is always something to be grateful for, truly there is, even in troubled times. 

So, beginning today, in this way, I am thankful for Mary.  Mary is a friend I have never really met but one that I feel I would get on well with if we ever did.  Mary and I are like minded, we like the same things and have generally the same view of life.  Being a lady of the cloth, it has been quite natural for me to take important matters to her for insight and she always has something to say that helps.  I am thankful for that.  I feel blessed to have Mary in my life.

Sisters In Christ

Today I am grateful for my sisters in Christ -- my DHC sisters.  Such a strong, supportive group -- I am blessed to have them in my life.

Today I am grateful for fall weather -- crisp and cool and feeling so nice after such a long, hot summer.  I am also very thankful to have had a wonderful evening last evening with all four of my grandchildren, Nathan, Kathryn, Caroline, and Emily and the happy addition of friend, baby Tyler.  Such a blessed evening!

Rain

Today I am thankful for the rain.  We need it.  We needed the weather change.  However, the situation has become dangerous and I pray for everybody's safety that needs to be out on the roads.

Cooler Weather

Today I am thankful for a little bit cooler weather! Fall is on the way!

Good days

I am thankful that my daughter's first week back in school is going well.  I am thankful that Caroline's kinder year is starting well.  I feel so bad for the family of the young man killed on the motorcycle.  Please Lord, give them peace and comfort, especially the young girlfriend who is so hurt. I Jesus name I pray.

Car Accident

Today I am thankful that the people injured in the car accident that I witnessed are going to be ok.  I am sad, however, that the motorcycle rider was killed.  I am thankful that it wasn't worse than it was.

Eyeglasses

Today I am thankful that I live in a place that I can have ready access to eyeglasses and have the means to obtain them.  Thank you God for my  new glasses, please let my improved vision allow me to see the good in people and see the good that needs to be done. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Answered Prayer

Today I am thankful for favorable results on medical tests.  Without a doubt answered prayer.  Thank you, again, Lord for your intervention on this matter.

Medical Care

Today I am thankful that I live in a country where medical care is available and I am glad I have the means to obtain that medical care.  Today I will be doing the simple act of getting my eyes tested and am thankful that I can do that.  I pray for those who aren't able to do that.

Dear Father,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take care of my vision.  I pray for those who don't have that opportunity to be given the opportunity or means to have the gift of sight.

Today I am thankful for Emily.

Today I am thankful for the rain.  I am also thankful that I live in a country where I am free to vote as I see fit.

Today I am thankful for the cool, crisp fall weather and for All Saints Day.  Makes me think of my parents.

Today I am grateful for memories.  The photos on my other blog remind me of my children's days at SGS and all the good times and good friends there.  So blessed.

Today I am thankful for this beautiful fall weather and for my blog friends.  Who says internet friends can't be real friends?  I truly value these friendships as much as any other and I am thankful to have them.

Today I am thankful that I was raised in faith and that I know to go to God FIRST with everything in prayer.
